Dr. Walter Eugene Baumann, M.D., longtime Okmulgee physician, died April 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 69 years of age. He was born March 12, 1947 in Hastings, Nebraska to Don D. and Lillian (Osler) Baumann. He married Lynette Elsasser June 1, 1970 at Sacred Heart Church in Emerson, Nebraska. Dr. Baumann graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1965. He then went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska in 1969, and later graduated from University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1972. In 1978 he graduated from University of Oklahoma Urology Medical Residency. Dr. Baumann was in private practice as a Urologist, serving Okmulgee for 34 years from May 17, 1978 until January 1, 2012.
Dr. Baumann is survived by his wife, Lynette Baumann, of the home, mother, Lillian (Osler) Baumann of Hastings Nebraska, sister, Joyce Grothen of Hastings, Nebraska, sister, Dr. Gwen Baumann-Weber of Omaha, Nebraska, son, Chris Baumann of Okmulgee, son, Seth Baumann of San Jose, California, granddaughter, Tiarra Baumann, grandson, Tyler Hendricks, and grandson, Jacob Baumann, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his pet cat, Cuddles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Okmulgee, with Reverend Joshua E. Litwack officiating. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dr. Baumann’s memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
