After June 30, Henryetta area residents will be traveling to Okmulgee if they need the county health department services.

The Henryetta site will be reducing hours of operation to one day a week starting June 1 then the office will be permanently closed after June 30.
The Henryetta office has not been a full-time facility for several years. It has only been open two days a week after previous budget problems forced a reduction in services.
Three people work out of the Henryetta office and they will be transferred to Okmulgee on a full-time basis.
Also being closed are the offices in Drumright, Lindsay and Buffalo. Okmulgee County is the only one with two offices being closed.
According to Deborah Nichols, chief operating officer at the state Health department, the decision to close the offices is in anticipation of more budget cuts starting July 1. Those cuts are expected to be between 10 to 19 percent.
Earlier this year, the Health Department took a seven percent cut amounting to $4.2 million.
Closing those offices is expected to save around $360,000.
The building currently housing the Henryetta office was built some 40 years ago. The building and property is owned by Okmulgee County. No word has been given what would happen to the property.
