The Pokémon Go game has a lot of Henryetta area fans and that is causing problems.
pokemonGamers are looking for characters from Zubat to Tentacruel and, especially Pikachu who inhabit a mixture of real-and fantasy-world locations.
Henryetta police chief Steve Norman said several players have received real-world tickets because they are causing traffic problems.
"We have written up players who have stopped their cars in the middle of the street while playing the game," said Norman.
"That creates a traffic hazard for other motorists and we have a 'zero-tolerance' attitude for that."
He said there has been a couple of close calls because gamers are not watching the road but, instead are busy looking at their phones.
In the few weeks since the game was released, young and old players alike have been searching for the 151 characters. To find them, they watch their smartphones and wander streets and parks.
While no one has been injured locally, that's not the same around the country.
Two men walked off a cliff and numerous pedestrians have been struck by autos.
"This is a game but it also involves real-life," Said the police chief. "We will be enforcing real life traffic laws for those offenders."
