Somehow the idea of a luau in the middle of winter is contradictory but that’s just what the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce is planning.
“Legends Luau,” the annual chamber banquet will be held Jan. 13 at the civic center with Hawaiian leis, grass skirts and beach attire aplenty. On the menu will be Kalua Pork and Polynesian Chicken entrees with sides. One of the showstoppers will be a fully-cooked whole pig.
Roy Madden, Chamber executive director said tickets need to be purchased by Jan. 5. The tickets are $25 each and that entitles the holders to a dinner as well as evening of entertainment.
This year performances will be given by Elvis Reincarnated and the Inmates also known as East Central Electric”s Billie Been & The Line Crew), Willie Nelson, actually Donnie Smith, our someday CMA “Entertainer of the Year Award” winner with “On the Road Again,” the music group KISS, by Lyle Stogner & the AEP-PSO “Electricians and Sonny and Cher, the alias for Tammie and Mark Hiatt.
“This is going to be an evening of fun and we will be recognizing our outgoing board members and officers and acknowledging those that have contributed to improvements to Henryetta in 2017. At the conclusion of the dinner, the annual “Henryettan of the Year Award” will be presented.
