Buttons fall off. That's a fact of life and students need to know how to put them back on. Members of the Henryetta fifth grade STAIRS program were being taught how to sew buttons onto a piece of cloth but that lesson evolved into a quilt that is going on display. The students started out with t-shirts, cutting them into squares then decorating those squares with drawings or tie-dye colors. Along the way, they picked up the skills in measuring, arranging and using a sewing machine. Now that it is finished, the quilt is going to take a place of honor at the Henryetta elementary building. {besps}2015may/quilt{/besps |
