Only the Okmulgee District 2 county commissioner race will be on the ballots following the end of the filing period this past week.
Three democrats, David Earhart, R.C. Morrow and Steve Ward, filed for that office and will be on the June 30 primary election. A runoff election will be held Aug. 20.
Going ahead to the Nov. 3 general election will be R. David Walker, a republican and Rashid Abdullah, an independent candidate for that District 2 office.
Cathy Murphy was the lone candidate filing for the county clerk’s position while Charly Criner will be automatically seated as court clerk. Okmulgee County sheriff Eddy Rice did not draw an opponent and will formally resume his office in January.
State Representative Scott Fetgatter was the lone applicant for his District 16 post.
Federal office seekers include incumbent Jim Inhofe for United States Senator along with other republicans J.J. State, John Tompkins, Neil Mavis and Robert Murphy. Democrats seeking election to that post are Sheila Bilyeu, Abby Broils, Elisabeth Britt and R.O. Joe Cassidy, jr., Independent candidates are Joan Farr and A.D. Nesbitt. All will be on the June 30 ballot.
Incumbent Markwayne Mullin is one of three republicans seeking his District 2 congressional seat. Other republicans include Joseph Silk and Rhonda Hopkins. The lone democratic candidate for that post is Danyell Lanier while Rickie Cataldo is a libertarian party member in that race. Both Lanier and Cataldo will be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
