George Earl Dean, a former Oklahoma resident and current Brownwood, Texas resident, died June 27, 2015 in Early, Texas at the age of 78. George was born March 15, 1937 to Paul Ithamer McConaha and Hazel Wells. George grew up in Cushing and lived there until age 7.
George later lived in Kingfisher where he attended school and played high school football, graduating from Kingfisher High School. After high school George joined the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, George worked for the U.S. Forestry Service in Estes Park, Colorado. He later attended college at OSU Tech in Okmulgee where he studied to be an electrician. It was in Okmulgee where George met Camilla Sue Bicknell. They were married June 13, 1964 in Okmulgee. During his adult life George also lived in Springfield, Missouri, Lawrence, Kansas, and Wichita, KS. In Wichita, George worked for Beech Aircraft. George and Camilla moved to Dallas in 1970, where George worked for approximately 26 years at Electronic Data Systems before retiring in 1994.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Camilla Sue Bicknell Dean; both his mother and father; his adoptive parents, James Dean and Irish Petty Dean; a son, George Earl Dean II; three brothers, James McConaha, William Dean, and Mike Compassi; and a sister, Maxine Terrell.
George is survived by a daughter, Kami LeAnne Dean Lawrence and husband Justin of Abilene, Tex.; a son, Paul Kelly Dean and wife Deanna of Brownwood; eight grandchildren, Amanda Cheyenne Lawrence, Wesley Lawrence, Joseph Lawrence, Jack Kelly Dean, Amanda Leann Dean, and Christopher Paul Dean, Jeremy Glen Fields, and Sandra Kaye Fields; by seven great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara McCoy of Stillwater; a sister-in-law, Janie Compassi; by numerous other extended family and many good friends.
A memorial service for George will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
