Registered nurse Amanda Gormley made a difference in the lives of several patients at Hillcrest Henryetta hospital recently.gormley
That difference was recognized recently with Gormley receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She was nominated for that award following nominations for several patients.
One of those patients said in her nomination, “Amanda helped me feel human again during the hardest time in my life. She listened and supported me when I was at my lowest. I am so thankful she was placed in charge of my care and there to help me find recovery. Thank you so much, Amanda. What you do makes a difference.”
Gormley is a medical-surgical RN and started her career at Hillcrest in the lab in 2012. She went to nursing school and, after completion there, returned to the hospital in 2020.
She also received Power of One award. The recognition is awarded to employees who consistently perform high-quality work, go beyond normal job assignments, demonstrate a willingness to work with others, maintain a positive attitude, display exceptional dependability and volunteer to help wherever needed.
Gormley fills in for other units when needed.
“My biggest takeaway from receiving this award was I simply doing my job,” Gormley said. “But to know how I made others feel and how I helped them when they needed it most was very rewarding for me. Just to be nominated for the award was a blessing in itself. I never expected to receive it.”
