Donald “Duke” Fred Britt, a resident of Dewar, died April 12, 2022 in Wewoka at the age of 77. He was born Dec. 5, 1944 in Henryetta to Charles Britt and Ishmael (Jones) Britt. On March 1, 1965 he married the love of his life, Anna Bell (Hammer) Britt. He was a preacher for most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Anna Bell; his mother and father; mother in-law Margaret Hammer and father in-law Raymond Hammer; one grandchild, Easton Lane Britt; sisters, Lillie Shockley and Mary McCarroll; brothers, Charles Britt Jr., Jackie Leon Britt, Curtis Britt, Johnny Britt, William Britt, and Kenneth Britt.
He is survived by two children, Ricky Britt of Henryetta and Kim Kowals and husband Matt of Council Hill; six grandchildren: Crystal Kight, Shelby Britt and fiancé Dale, Shalee Uribe and Kaleb, Kalyn Britt, Regan Britt, and Travor Britt and Brittany; great-grandchildren: Nuvarro Jim, Corey Carson, Kamry Bullard, Korvyn Roberts, Kensley Giles, Brynlee Giles, Liam Baldridge, and Rylan Miller; two siblings, Ira Britt and wife Carolyn of Henryetta and Linda Burney of Dewar; brother in-law Raymond Hammer, sister in-laws Mary Smith and husband Preston of Muskogee, Drucilla Britt, Minnie Britt, and Sherry Britt, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 and Friday, April 15, 2022 from 8 a.m. till 12 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Integrity Funeral Chapel Friday, April 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Terry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson Community.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Smith, Tracy Smith, Mark McCarroll, Howard Edmundson, Devin Britt, David Kight, and Landon Jefferson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travor Britt, Raymond Hammer, Preston Smith, all great grandsons.
