Nichols Park was besieged by a number of volunteers earmed with trash bags as they participated in the annual Earth Day observance Saturday. By the time the day had ended, the park was swept clean of trash left by visitors over the winter and readied for the summer tourist season. Steve Sanford is the driving force behind the project and supplied water and refreshments for the volunteers.
