monday motorhomeA fire that was believed to have started in the engine compartment completely destroyed a motor home on Interstate 40 Monday afternoon. 
The vehicle, occupied by three people, was westbound when the driver said he saw sparks coming from the exhaust.
He pulled the motor home to the side of the road and he, his wife and grandchild were able to escape before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. None were injured in the accident.
Fire departments from Henryetta, Dewar and Plainview were on hand to extinuish the blaze with flames spreading to the nearby vegetaton.
That temporarily blocked traffic until one lane could be opened but traffic was backed up for nearly two miles.monday semi
The road was closed again for over two hours when a westbound semi jackknifed with the driver's compartment swinging around and puncturing a fuel tank. Hazardous Materials specialists had to be called to clean up the diesel fuel. 
Traffic was diverted through Henryetta until the roadway could be cleared some two hours after the accident.
