A June 29 airplane crash in Africa claimed the life of a former Henryetta resident and her husband.
Kimberly K. Creech Champagne and her husband, Michael, were passengers in an airplane that was in the process of taking off when it struck the roof of a building. The accident occurred at a farm in Botswana. According to a news report from a South African television station, the couple were in Africa to take part in game and trophy hunting. The pilot and co-pilot received burn injuries in the crash.
The two were owners of Champagne Metals headquartered in Glenpool. Kimberly is a 1976 graduate of Henryetta high school. The company has additional facilities in Lebanon, Missouri and Middlebury, Indiana.
A celebration of Life for the couple will be held July 14 at 11 a.m. at Asbury Church in Tulsa.
