The annual Jim Shoulders Living Legends rodeo set a new record this weekend. Now in its 30th year, the event had the largest attendance both nights as cowboys and cowgirls tried to add to their PRCA point totals before the year ends next month.
“We knew that people want to see top rodeo performers and are pleased that so many came to our event this year,” said rodeo committee member Tammie Hiatt.”
The rodeo was held both Saturday and Sunday nights with a special roping event Sunday morning due to so many entries.
A special presentation was made Saturday night to Mark and Tammie Hiatt and Andy Bealko with trophy belt buckles recognizing them for being a part of the rodeo since int's inception 30 years ago.
Paul David Tierney from Oklahoma City was the All-Around Cowboy after he placed in the team roping and tie down roping events.
Other winners included:
Bareback: Gauge McBride, Kearney, Nebraska.
Saddle Bronc: Weston Patterson, Waverly, Kansas;
Tie-down: Cash Fuesz, Eureka, Kansas.
Steer Wrestling: Marc Joiner, oranger, Louisiana.
Team Roping: Casey New, Lipan, Texas and Evan Arnold, Stephenville, Texas.
Barrel Racing: Sadie Wolves, Weatherford.
Steer Roping: Round 1: Cole Patterson, Pratt, Kansas; Round 2: Brodie Poppins, Big Cabin; Round 3: Cole Patterson, Pratt, Kansas. He had the best average of the event.
Breakaway Roping: Christi Braudrick, Caddo.
The bulls were the winners both nights, preventing any cowboys from scoring.
Special highlights included the Mom Calf Scramble, young rodeo clown judging and mutton busting.
