A major road contract was awarded for work in Okmulgee County, Sen. Roger Thompson and Rep. Jerry Shoemake recently announced.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the project will involve grade, drain, surface, and bridge work of about three miles on US-75 from seven miles north of I-40, extending north near Okmulgee.
Thompson (R-Okemah) said the State Transportation Commission awarded the nearly $30 million contract to Sherwood Construction Company, Inc. The Tulsa company was the lowest of three bidders for the job, said Shoemake (D-Morris).
Once construction begins, the project is estimated to be completed within two years.
