HENRYETTA, OK — In a heartfelt show of support, the American Exchange Bank presented a donation to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 539, recognizing their dedication to service and commitment to the community.

Commander Goodner accepted the donation on behalf of the post, expressing gratitude for the bank’s continued generosity. “We appreciate this so much. Our only steady income comes from membership dues, which amount to about $300 a year. Donations like this keep us going, and this bank has been extremely generous over the years,” Goodner said.

Dr. David Wharton, a former Air Force veteran, and Kent Pharaoh, Chairman of the Board and an Army veteran, highlighted their pride in supporting fellow servicemen and women. “There’s a lot of pride in our ability to give back,” Wharton noted, reflecting on his three years of active duty in England. Kent Pharaoh, who served in Germany and the U.S., echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of helping organizations that make a difference.

“This kind of support is what allows us to keep our doors open and continue serving our community,” Goodner added. “Without these donations, we couldn’t stay in business. Thank you again.”

The donation reflects the deep-rooted appreciation for veterans in Henryetta and underscores the importance of local businesses stepping up to support those who have served.
