Runoff Set for Oklahoma Senate District 8 Special Election between
Bryan Logan & David Nelson
The special election for Oklahoma Senate District 8 saw a competitive race among five Republican candidates, but no one secured the required 50% +1 majority needed to win outright. As a result, the top two candidates—Bryan Logan and David Nelson—will face off in a runoff election on April 1.
Election Results:
Bryan Logan – 1,521 votes (40.71%)
David Nelson – 1,181 votes (31.61%)
Hoss Durrett – 674 votes (18.04%)
Steven Baldridge – 260 votes (6.96%)
Jeff R. Ramsey – 82 votes (2.19%)
Following the election, Hoss Durrett endorsed David Nelson, while Ed Jolly, who did not run, previously endorsed Bryan Logan.
With endorsements now playing a role, the runoff is expected to be a closely watched race. The winner will move forward to the general election and ultimately fill the vacated Senate seat in District 8. Voters will return to the polls on April 1 to decide the final outcome.
To help voters make an informed decision ahead of the general election, The Henryettan will host a debate toward the end of April, providing candidates from all parties—including Republican, Democrat, and Independent—a platform to clarify their positions on key issues. This debate will offer the public a chance to hear directly from those vying for the seat, allowing for a deeper understanding of where each candidate stands on the matters most important to Oklahomans.
