The quick-moving windstorm Wednesday morning has left many residents with tree limbs of all sizes in their yards.
City manager David Bullard said the town will not be hauling off the fallen brush since the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) prohibits it. “There was a time that we could at least provide residents with a place to bring their debris,” Bullard said. “That is no longer available due to the ODEQ rules.” People will have several options to get rid of the brish. the debris can be taken to Okmulgee landfill or residents can cut the brush in small lengths then get a burn permit from the fire department and set the debris alight. He said city crews cannot help private residents with their fallen limbs.: Our people will be used only to clear roadways when limbs block traffic,” he said.
