The Donald Wells Education Scholarship was awarded to Terran Pitts. Terran is a graduate of Weleetka High School and attends the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. He plans to pursue a career in Computer Technology. Terran is the son of Leetha and Cory Pitts. This prestigious scholarship pays up to a total of $9,000 and comes with a paid internship at AEB.
The Donald Wells Academic Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a local high school. Chosen applicants go through a job interview process with bank personnel. The recipient is awarded a $1,000 scholarship for each semester of college for a total of up to $9,000. The recipient also receives a paid internship at American Exchange Bank. Recipients must continue to meet the scholarship criteria in order to maintain scholarship disbursements.
Donald Wells served as President at American Exchange Bank. He began working as a teller during the summer months in 1972 while attending the University of Oklahoma. He was elected to the bank’s Board of Directors in 1981 and returned to full-time employment in 1986. In addition to banking, Donald served as Treasurer at First Baptist Church and owned a car wash/storage facility in Henryetta. Donald passed away in January 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He had a love for the community and OU football
