Henryetta Student Wins First Place in VFW District 7 Patriot’s Pen Essay Competition
Molly Chew, a talented student from Henryetta High School, has earned first place in the VFW Auxiliary Patriot’s Pen Essay Competition representing VFW Post 539 for District 7, which covers Henryetta, Okmulgee, McAlester, Eufaula, and Muskogee. Her insightful and well-crafted essay impressed judges and earned her the prestigious honor in the annual competition that celebrates youth patriotism and civic awareness.
Molly, the daughter of Clint and Dana Chew, showcased her ability to articulate her thoughts on this year’s essay theme with clarity and originality. Her achievement reflects not only her academic skill but also her deep understanding of and appreciation for American values and democracy.
The Patriot’s Pen Essay Competition, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and its Auxiliary, challenges middle and high school students to write compelling essays on themes related to patriotism and the ideals of our nation. Molly’s first-place win at the district level demonstrates her outstanding talent and dedication to the contest’s mission.
Molly will now advance to the next level of competition, where she will represent VFW District 7 at the state level. If successful, her essay may go on to compete nationally for significant prizes, including the grand prize of $5,000.
