For over four decades, Robert has been a familiar face behind the wheel as a bus driver for Twin Hills. With 41 years on the job, he has transported generations of children to and from school, serving as a constant presence in their lives. For Robert, driving a school bus is more than just a job; it’s a commitment to the safety and well-being of each student in his care. His calm, steady demeanor has brought comfort to countless families, knowing their children are in safe, caring hands.
Beyond his role as a bus driver, Robert’s devotion to his community is further exemplified through his 38 years—and counting—as Fire Chief of the Twin Hills Fire Department. Answering the call of duty whenever needed, he has led his team with courage and dedication, working to protect Twin Hills residents and properties. From fighting fires to training volunteers and coordinating response efforts, his leadership remains a cornerstone of Twin Hills safety and resilience.
Robert’s commitment to public service extended even further when he was appointed Trustee for the County Commissioner of District 1, serving as a member of the Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority (OCCJA) Board of Trustees. For nearly a decade, from December 31, 2014, to July 11, 2024, he brought his insights, experience, and steadfast dedication to the board. State Representative,
Scott Fetgatter, declared in his citation from the House of Representatives that Robert’s unwavering commitment, dedication, and witness to the organization’s growth and achievements have left a profound legacy. His tenure was marked by his integrity and professionalism, qualities which Fetgatter lauded as “a commendable example” of service to the community and public safety.
Throughout his life, Robert has drawn inspiration from his favorite actor, John Wayne, whose characters often embodied the values of grit, loyalty, and resilience that Robert holds dear. A favorite quote of his from Wayne reads, “Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday.” This wisdom resonates deeply with Robert, guiding his approach to both life and service. For him, each day is an opportunity to apply the lessons of the past to better serve his community and to look toward the future with hope and purpose.
As he retires from his Trustee role, the Oklahoma Legislature joins in celebrating Robert’s achievements, recognizing his “outstanding service and contributions to the Great State of Oklahoma.” An avid supporter of his community and those who call it home, Robert Pinkston’s legacy of selfless service will be felt for generations. His unwavering dedication to both Twin Hills and Okmulgee County is a testament to his belief in the power of community and the importance of lending a hand wherever it’s needed.
