Nathan Brewer Runs for Oklahoma Senate District 8, Advocating for Child Protection and Rural Healthcare

HENRYETTA, OK —

Nathan Brewer, a small business owner and dedicated father from Henryetta, Oklahoma, is running as the Democratic candidate for the State Senate District 8 seat.  The seat became vacant following the resignation of Senator Roger Thompson on November 1, 2024.

As the sole Democrat in the race, Brewer will bypass the primary election and focus on the general election scheduled for May 13, 2025.  Brewer’s candidacy is deeply personal. In 2023, his daughter, Brittany Brewer, was tragically killed in Henryetta, along with six other victims. This profound loss has driven him to prioritize strengthening laws to protect children and enhance public safety.

A key component of his platform is advocating for the passage of “Knight’s Law,” introduced in 2023, which mandates that individuals convicted of certain child sex crimes—such as child rape, child pornography, child prostitution, and human trafficking—serve 100% of their sentences.

In addition to his focus on child protection and public safety, Brewer is committed to improving access to healthcare services in rural communities, with an emphasis on mental health care. He believes that enhanced access to these services is crucial for the well-being of his constituents. Brewer is actively engaging with residents across District 8, which encompasses Okmulgee, Okfuskee, and McIntosh counties, to understand their concerns and needs. By doing so, he aims to effectively represent them at the State Capitol.

The special primary election is set for March 4, 2025; however, Brewer will not appear on the ballot as he is unopposed within his party. The general election will take place on May 13, 2025.

Brewer’s campaign is characterized by a personal commitment to public safety and a dedication to addressing the healthcare needs of rural Oklahomans. His firsthand experiences inform his platform, reflecting a deep understanding of the challenges faced by his community.
